David Katz: Presentation Analysis

In the Ted Talk provided, David Katz presents to the audience a solution to the plastic waste that is filling up. I really like the way that he starts out his presentation. He brings up a seemingly outlandish claim that the last thing we need to be doing is cleaning up our ocean. However, as he continues, he backs that up by comparing it to an overflowing sink, where the first thing we should do is turn the water off rather than trying clean up the mess. This is how he aims to help the waste in the ocean, by cutting the waste off at the source.

Once he establishes the direction that he feels the world needs to go, he then explains what programs he has in place to help solve this issue. I feel he did a really good job at explaining how these solutions are playing a positive role in the world. I also really like the analogies that he made throughout the presentation like the one with walking over a bed of diamonds. He also had good visual ques so that the audience could actually see what the shops looked like. The only way I think he could have improved would be to tell the audience how they can get involved with the solution.
