The hantavirus is a new virus that started off in a cruiseship in early May. First case being in South America. It is being compared to the corona virus because of similar symptoms. The symptoms start off wth a fever, muscle ache, and coughing, then escalates to coughing. shortness of breath and then lungs fill with liquid. It was caused by wild rodents caused by breathing particles from wild rodent droppings, saliva, and urine. This virus transmits through breathing dust and rodent particles. There is still no treatment for the new virus, but people on the cruise ship ae being quarantined. Many have and will recover, but as of right now there is still a 15% chance it can go bad which would lead to death. Since the virus did start on the cruise ship they stopped at certain destinations, being Antartica, South Georgia, the falklands, Nightingale Island, Tristan, St. Helena, Ascesion, and Cape Verde. During this they have contacted everyone who might have been in contact with the virus and tested them but most come back negative. The passengers were flown back to their countries and now being quarantined.
