What’s the Point?

What’s the key to a harmonious life? Have you ever wondered why some people seem to be more ambitious than others, or perhaps why some individuals have a tougher time overcoming daily obstacles? I thought it was just a personality trait or an inevitable thing. Maybe the reasonable answer has been in front of us this entire time but we have been too busy to realize it. Our everyday busy life’s don’t allow us the needed time to self reflect and find our own purpose. If we have a sense of purpose we are more likely to live positively in the moment as it reminds us everyday of our passions, values, and interests.

I had lost sense of myself. I wasn’t happy, I couldn’t sleep, I was restless & stressed, until I realized I didn’t know what my purpose was. I found myself trying to fill the void in unpractical ways. I was helping others with their purpose in life rather than figuring out what my purpose was. I thought people pleasing was a reasonable purpose in life. All I knew is making people happy made me content.

Extreme life challenges can cause post traumatic responses. Our brain doesn’t know why this happened to it and it doesn’t like this imbalance. We can’t make sense of the internal pain and emptiness endured so it can be hard to look past it. This can lead to a multitude of problems if not addressed or if help is not sought out. During life transitions like these we can loose grasp of who we are and our sense of purpose. A common coping mechanism in people who experienced some type of trauma is substance abuse. Which is highly dangerous and risky. Lacking values or direction can contribute to an array of symptoms. It can effect your overall sense of well-being, causing feelings of emptiness, and even boredom. How we all cope with these can differ.

There are many ways we can realign with our purpose, but to end this I will speak about what helped me. A few years ago I decided to take my mental health seriously, I watched many self help videos. The most useful knowledge I gained was mindfulness! Breathing, deep breath work, meditation, & yoga all helped my mind calm down and center itself to come up with the answers I needed. My purpose in life is to create, as it gives me a deep sense of accomplishment and unity in my circle.
