Drawing is just another art form that can be used for many different things. Even still, we find that drawing is often found as a way to express our emotions or new ideas that can either be calm or loud or even anything in between. I feel like the best part about drawing, and even art in general, is that there is no one right way to do it. There is much freedom in the way people can speak their minds without having to use words at all. Drawing serves as another method of communication in that sense which is why it comes to serve a means of self-expression. We see this most evidently in drawings that children would make for their family members, friends or teachers. They certainly do not have all the vocabulary needed to express their needs or wants. Much is the same when they experience a certain feeling because they can’t exactly describe it. Hence, they turn to paper and coloring utensils and let their imagination run wild. It always amazes me when I see their artwork because their minds go beyond the limits of self-expression, only because their resources are limited at the moment. Later on in life there is obviously more development but with this comes a more mature and honed perspective that leads to greater and more influential drawings.

This is a doodle that my mom drew. It contains the name of our family dog that we all love and missed. It was a healthy way for my mom to express her grief. She tied in her self-expression through her own art style with abstract and busy doodling.
